Raised Bed Garden Update…

Except for one lonely nuance rabbit ,the raised bed garden has been doing quite well.  Already it’s producing more arugula than the family can eat.  I’ve pulled some good size radishes for my salads along with white and red onions.  Spinach and Swiss Chard is not too far behind.

Already started second seedlings of radishes, broccoli and cabbage.  Because of the rabbit, I had to replant the snow peas and beets.

Only regret thus far has been the realization that all of the tomatoes and tomatillos are planted too close together.  Contemplating pulling a few to clean things up before it gets too late. Not sure if I’m going to try to transplant them.

I thought the peppers would have been at a better stage. Read somewhere that they do well in extreme warm weather.  Wondering if the grass mulch that I used may have stunted their growth by keeping their base too cool.

Time will tell…

Do you hand water or use automatic drip irrigation?

      Thank you for stopping by.

I hand water with a hose. Fortunately, the weather here in Southeast Michigan has been ideal so I have done very little watering. I keep a good layer of grass mulch that really has kept the moister in and the weeds down. I’m trying to keep things simple and the cost down. I’ve considered some sort of irrigation, but the chore of watering is not an issue.

      Again, thanks for your question.
